Here’s how the bracket currently looks after those results: Illustration: James H. Our fearsome duo will take on Swoop the RedHawk in Round 2. Freddie had picked up a pretty slim lead with a few days left in the proceedings before NIU made a major push to get their friends across the line. Our first major upset of the tournament, as the live and costumed mascot brought their combined powers to take down Freddie in the late going, by a final score of 76-24 percent. It’s a finals-worthy matchup in Round 2, as Rufus will draw the #2 overall seed in Akron’s Zippy, who once won the Capital One Mascot Challenge. The ever-popular Rufus took a commandng win over Kent State’s Flash, with a final score of 75-25 percent. Buster will now try to take down the #1 overall seed in Victor E. As could be expected from an 8-9 matchup, it was the closest of our three listed games, with Buster taking away a 64-36 percent victory. The cult of Buster came in the clutch, as the likeable Bronco picks up a rivalry win over Swoop the Eagle in this Michi-MAC matchup.
